List Biskupa Oslo do Biskupa Tarnowskiego z pro¶b± o kapłanów

 9th January 2008

My Lord Bishop,

As Your Excellency already knows, through the kind assistance of Dom Albert Maczka Can. Reg. and Rev, Prof. Wieslaw Przyczyna, the Diocese of Oslo and the Norwegian Province of the Sisters of St. Elisabeth (C.S.S.E.) are in need of a Polish priest to serve as chaplain. I am very grateful for the positive response you have expressed on this matter, and I now write with both additional information and the request for such assistance.

The Norwegian Province of the Sisters of St. Elisabeth consists of 20 sisters, of whom 12 reside in the Provincial House in Oslo, 11 of whom are Polish, The Provincial House also encompasses the Novitiate and Juniorate of the province, and the sisters maintain a significant academic standard, as well as engaging in a significant apostolate in and around the city of Oslo.

Following the recent death of their resident chaplain, they are now in need of a new chaplain to celebrate the sacraments, provide spiritual care and teach theology and other related subjects.

There is also an additional need in the diocese that I would envisage joined to the task of chaplain for this sisters. Due to the multitude of Polish workers and immigrants in Norway at this time, he need for another Polish speaking priest is great, and a part-time (most likely weekends) assistance to the Polish national chaplaincy would be most welcome.

A priest assigned to such a dual ministry would be offered board and lodging at the Provincial House, and a salary through Mass stipends, the financial assistance the Church in Norway receives from Germany, as well as diocesan funds.

Therefore, I hereby request that you considers the possibility of releasing a priest of the Diocese of Tarnow to such a ministry in the Diocese of Oslo for a time. I would be most happy to visit Tarnow for the purpose of further discussing this, as well as outlining details etc. with you.

With assurances of my continued prayers, and grateful for your fraternal assistance on this matter, I remain,

Your sincerely in Christ.

Bernt I. Eidsvig Can. Reg.
Bishop of Oslo
